Google is giving its Bard AI tool a new name – Gemini. The rebranding, set to take effect next week, comes with more than just a name change. Google is rolling out significant updates, including a cleaner user interface to reduce distractions, improve readability, and make navigation simpler.
Gemini introduces a choice chat feature and a fresh “ultra 1.0” version of the AI. This updated tool will seamlessly integrate with popular Google apps like Gmail, Maps, and YouTube. It’s designed to be accessible through text, voice, or images on both Android and iOS devices.
The Gemini app will first launch in English in the US, followed by a global release in Japanese, Korean, and English.
Notably, it will be available in somewhere other than the UK, Switzerland, European Economic Area countries, and associated territories initially. The Canadian launch is scheduled for February 7, marking the first time the AI tool will be available in a major region without prior support.
Gemini Advanced Subscription Features
Gemini’s “Advanced” subscription, previously Bard, brings:
1. Expanded Multi-Modal Capabilities: Gemini processes text, code, audio, image, and video seamlessly.
2. Ultra 1.0 Model Access: Subscribers can use Google’s potent Ultra 1.0 model for complex tasks like coding and logical reasoning.
3. Seamless Integration with Google Services: The subscription integrates smoothly with Google apps like Gmail and Maps to assist across various productivity apps.
The subscription cost is yet to be disclosed but is expected to be on par with similar AI services like ChatGPT Plus or Copilot Pro.
